What the site is
The site is a public transparency tool. It restates public campaign-finance records filed with the Texas Ethics Commission and the Federal Election Commission and reports, for Texas candidates, officeholders, and political committees, how much of the money behind them came from outside Texas. It is provided for public information.
Accuracy, and what the figures mean
The figures are computed from public filings and are shown next to their sources so anyone can check them. The site is built to be conservative: where a record cannot be resolved with confidence, the money is left out rather than guessed, so the outside-money share is a floor. Even so, the underlying public filings can contain errors, and the site is provided as is, without a warranty that every figure is complete or free of error. A share of outside money reflects the contributor addresses on public filings. It is not a statement about where a person lives, about who wins an election, or about any person's conduct. The methodology page explains this in full. Nothing on the site is legal, financial, or voting advice.
Corrections
If you believe a figure is wrong, the corrections page explains how to report it. Accepted corrections are published in a new, dated release rather than changed silently.
Neutrality
The site applies one rule to every candidate, officeholder, and committee, regardless of party or of whom the result helps or hurts. It does not expressly advocate the election or defeat of any candidate, and it is not authorized by or coordinated with any candidate or candidate committee.
Acceptable use
You may read, cite, and link to the site freely. You may not use it to harass, threaten, or endanger any individual, to misrepresent its figures or their meaning, or to interfere with its operation. The underlying campaign-finance data is public record and freely reproducible from the original sources; the site's own design, text, and branding are the property of the Texas Nationalist Movement, Inc.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Texas Nationalist Movement, Inc. is not liable for any loss arising from the use of, or reliance on, the site or its figures.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas.
Changes
These terms may be updated. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
